Good coffee starts with good chemistry; the right amount of coffee, the correct grind, the optimal water temperature.

Here are some of our recommendations for how to make the best-tasting cup at home.

 

Chemex

What You Need

  • Coffee
  • Chemex
  • Chemex Filters
  • Burr Grinder
  • Timer
  • Filtered Water
  • Kettle
  • Scale

 

  1. Place the Chemex and filter on scale. Heat water to 202 degrees fahrenheit. Then thoroughly rinse filter, then empty the water from the Chemex .
  2. Add 40 grams of medium coars ground coffee to the filter. Zero out scale and get timer ready.
  3. Start timer pour 100g bloom weight for 40 seconds for coffee to breath.
  4. Second pour 240 grams of water in a slow clockwise circles let that drain.
  5. Then pour 100 grams 3 times and let drain every time till you reach 640 grams of water.
  6. This should take about 5:30.
  7. Let chemex cool then enjoy.
 

Hario v60

What You Need

  • Coffee
  • Hairo V60
  • Hairo V60 Filters
  • Burr Grinder
  • Timer
  • Filtered Water
  • Kettle
  • Scale

 

  1. Place V60, decanter and filter on scale. Heat water to 202 degrees fahrenheit. Then thoroughly rinse filter, and then empty the decanter.
  2. Add 24 grams of fine ground coffee to the filter. Zero out scale and get timer ready.
  3. Start the time and add 50 grams of evenly distributed water to the coffee. Let that sit for 30 seconds.
  4. Then pour 40-60 grams of water every 30 seconds, stop once you get to 400 grams this should take 3:00 min
  5. Let coffee cool and enjoy.
 

Phoenix 70

What You Need

  • Coffee
  • Phoenix 70
  • Phoenix 70 Filters
  • Burr Grinder
  • Timer
  • Filtered Water
  • Kettle
  • Scale

 

  1. Place Phoenix, decanter and filter on scale. Heat water to 202 degrees fahrenheit. Then thoroughly rinse filter, and then empty the decanter.
  2. Add 15 grams of medium fine ground coffee to the filter. Zero out scale and get timer ready.
  3. Start the time and add 30 grams of evenly distributed water to the coffee. Let that sit for 30 seconds.
  4. Then pour 50 grams of water every 30 seconds, stop once you get to 228 grams this should take 2:30 min
  5. Let coffee cool and enjoy.
